Pre-Law Academy
Students successfully completing the programs of study are equipped to pursue areas of study in college and the expanding career fields related to Law and Law related field of study.
The Pre-Law Academy challenges ninth through twelfth grade students who have an interest in the law and encourages students to consider the legal field as a potential profession.
The program exposes students to unique and challenging courses not usually offered in high school.
In addition, the Pre-Law Academy emphasizes writing and communication skills which are important for all students, but essential to those interested in the practice of law.
The Pre-Law Academy is steadfast in creating a learning environment that allows students to learn, discuss, and critically analyze our legal and justice systems. Students will be come familiar with Law Studies and Law related careers.
Objectives of the academy:
- Development of higher-order critical thinking skills
- Business, community, and education partnerships
- Cultivation of exceptional reading and writing skills
- Hands on learning
- Cooperative, project-based, and problem-based learning
- Courtroom Field Trips, District and State Mock Trial, Professional Guest Lectures, and other stimulating activities
The 4-year coursework for the Pre-Law Program will include:
Year 1 - Comprehensive Law Honors
Year 2 - Court Procedures Honors/Legal Systems and Concepts
Year 3 - Constitutional Law Honors
Year 4 - Law Studies Honors/International Law Honors
