Environmental Science Academy

The Environmental Science Academy focuses on the diverse interactions between Florida's ecosystems, wetlands, forests, wildlife, natural resources, and humans, and how all of this impacts the environment.

This academy is designed to develop competencies in the areas of the environmental sciences, developing knowledge of the interdependence between people and nature that is vital for food production, maintaining clean air and water, and sustaining biodiversity in a changing climate. Using the three basic approaches for conducting an ecological investigation (observing, experimenting and modelling) students investigate and design solutions in response to real-world challenges related to clean and abundant drinking water, food supply issues, and renewable energy. Applying their knowledge through hands-on activities and simulations, students research and design potential solutions to these true-to-life challenges. 

Students successfully completing the programs of study are equipped with the skills of scientific investigation, laboratory skills, scientific and technological concepts, and principles of leadership and career opportunities to pursue areas of study in college and the expanding career fields related to environmental science.
